I used windows easy transfer on the windows 7 beta backed up all my data everything was fine next i recovered vista then went to windows easy transfer on vista and tried to transfer my data back i got the following error message"Please select a valid file where your data can be restored, to select a file, click Browse" I have tried many things i downloaded migrecover and that didn't work, i disabled my firewall i reinstalled windows 7 beta to extract data that didn't work, i installed the windows 7 RC that didn't work, can someone please help the windows 7 beta community.

Curtis - Try using the WET utility found on the Beta installation DVD instead. The version of WET in Vista differs from the one in the Beta and the one found in the RC - none of which are compatible. You need touse the same version you used to back the data up with.

I am not 100% sure about this but I have heard that the beta and rc version of wet are not compatible - that you can only open beta mig files made with the the beta wet and rc with rc.Tryand copy the mig file from whatever exterrnal media it's on to the same partition as the transfer wizard.

Mr Stevens when you said copy the mig file to the same partition what do you mean, I think this might work

If your mig file is located on a cd/dvd/usb there is a slight chance you may have better luck by copying it to your hard drive first before attepmpting to load it with wet..
