Please temporary disable antivirus and check the result. If the issue persists, please run “sfc /scannow” in command line to try to repair system components. Hello Arthur, Thank you for your reply. I disabled my Kaspersky Interrnet Security and tried to backup again. Same results as before, and Event viewer indicated same errors as before. This process will take some time. Beginning verification phase of system scan. Verification 100% complete. Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log The system file repair changes will take effect after the next reboot. I rebooted the computer and tried to back up, but same issue as before. I have the scf log results, and placed them on my Skydrive Public folder. However I do not know how to link you to the folder. You may run In-place upgrade to repair the system components. Your personal data and programs will not be removed. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Thank you for your reply. I tried an in place upgrade as you suggested, but it froze on the last step of transferring files, setting, and programs step at 62%. Searched the issue and found a Microsoft KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975253/en-us. I added the environmental and restarted the in place upgrade. It completed successfully and all my files, setting, and programs were as before. Additionally, I can now complete a backup. Thank you for your help on this matter. Regards, Dennis

Arthur Xie, I have the same problem with my machine as was listed above, my question is, how do I run an "In place upgrade" if I am already running Win 7 and my Asus laptop did not come with any disks? I made an image of the machine right out of the box, as per the directions that came with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know for sure but your laptop probably has a hidden recovery partition. This will allow you to run a in place upgrade without the recovery DVDs. Open the user manual and see how to get the recovery partition to boot . Once you boot into the recovery partition you should be able to select a repair install. I don't know about Asus laptops but HP laptop's recovery partitions can be accessed from the by pressing F8 at startup and selecting Repair Computer from the Advance Menu Options. Hope this helps.
