Windows 7 backup to samba
Trying to backup Windows 7 to samba share - let's me browse and choose the directory but then tells me user code or password is wrong - this is using same user code and password that I opened the share with in first place - any idea how to resolve this? I can map the share to a drive, but mapped drive does not show as a backup device.Ron Kirschner

Probably need to find a Samba forum to discuss this in as Microsoft does not support Samba. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi, Windows 7 sends the more secure NTLMv2 protocol by default. Samba may not support. If any Security Software or firewall is running, temporary disable it and try to modify the following group policy. Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\Network security: LAN Manager authentication level Please change to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated". Hi Ron, I have tested the backup feature, the mapped drive doesn't show the Backup Destination list. You need to click Save on network button and type the Network Location, enter its username and password.
