I was able to run windows backup the first time. The options of the left side the screen (system image disk, etc) seem to work. The Backup Now Button does not work. Click on the button, nothing happens. If I click on Manage Space, Turn on Schedule or Change Settings, nothing happens. I am the only user of the pc. The operating system is Windows 7 64 bit. All important and recommended updates have been applied.

Hi sfspa1, It is possible that the backup is actually still running? Can you look in the Event Viewer (Start > Run.. > eventvwr.msc) and see if there are any unusual or related errors? If you find any, post them here and you'll get more help with this problem. Thanks, Kevin @calwell on Twitter

Sorry for the late response. I followed your link from above and read the many responses. After reading two different responses concerning a squared software installed one once changes were made backup and restore starting working normally. I uninstalled a squared and sent an email referencing the problem and link. Thanks for all of your help. Also thanks to all others who responded.
