Windows 7 backup does not function.
After an upgrade from Acronis 2010 to 2011. I started getting random bluscreen restarts on my system. Decided to uninstall Acronis, used windows 7 x64 pro uninstall. Upon reboot I found that acronis was not completely removed but it also was not functional. It also left my win backup and restore non functional. Ihave been reading the forums and have cleaned the registry removed as many traces of acronis as i can find. What advice acronis has does not work and they have no workaround for the problem., I have done file integrity checks , reregistered dll`s and restarted services. The only error response I receive is " The module sdcpl.dll was loaded but the call to DLLregisterServer failed with error code )x80070005" If I use restore or recovery it will just reinstall Acronis 2010. I would rather just do a reinstall of windows 7 x64 Pro at that point. If anybody any sugestions it would be appreciated.

I use Seagate disks so I use the Seagate version of Acronis and it works fine to clone my system disk. Never been a problem for me. I suspect that the installer for Acronis is a bit dodgy. I guess they screwed it up. I can suggest using 7-zip and make a backup with that free tool. I use it with a USB disk fine. Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)! IT/Developer, Windows/Linux/Mainframe I also am a true vegan and I am very good with economics and I used to play chess at 2400++ I have lots of papers on my site for power supplies and video card problems, see the resources section

I spent over 4 hours researching a solution and here it is: Removing Acronis and restoring Windows Backup The normal way to remove an unwanted program is just do an Uninstall through the Control Panel. With Acronis it takes a little bit more. Acronis like some other programs changes Registry settings and does not put them back as they were before. Do not attempt the following if you are not comfortable with editing the registry. If you are careful there will not be any problems. 1) First delete any references in the Registry to Acronis. There will be one entry that is protected and we will get to that next. 2) After removing all other references to Acronis from the Registry re-boot your system into the Safe Mode. You must be able to logon using an Administrative account. 3) Edit the Registry as follows: a. Goto HKEY_CLASSES-ROOT\CLSID b. Find the following Key: {B98A2BEA-7D42-4558-8BDI-832F41BAC6FD}. You should notice that this was the Key that you could not delete before. c. Right-click on the key and select Permissions. d. At this point you go into the Advanced area and take Ownership of this Key along with all of the Sub Keys. This must be done in order to make the necessary changes. e. Now you can edit the Acronis entry in the Sub-key (Default) in InProcServer32 to read %SystemRoot%\System32\sdcpl.dll f. I also changed the Resource Id Sub-key (Dword) to read 14. 4) Reboot your system and you will now be able to use Windows Backup. 5) After you use Backup the remaining correct Registry entries will be made by the system.
