Windows 7 backup does not complete
I tried several times to backup Windows 7 (system and user data) to a network device (D-Link DNS-313). Looking at details indicates job is done up to 15 percent, no more. No error message but job never completes. Unused space on DNS-131 is 605547 MB. Accessing other data on that device is working without any problem. What is my failure?

This is a known issue in backup caused due to the installation of certain applications in RC. But it has been fixed in RTM. If you use the RC, I suggest you use the RTM to solve this issue. However, if you use the RTM on the computer now, please check carefully if the below checkbox was checked Include a system image of Drivers (C:) This checkbox was checked by default. If this checkbox was checked, the backup process will contain the applications, which are installed in your system driver. The process will slow and last long time. I suggest we can uncheck this checkbox to test this issue again. In addition, the backup problem also can occur if some components cannot be copied when it gets to 15%. This situation can be occurred by some third-party antivirus or firewall running background. Thus, I suggest you temporarily disable the third-party antivirus and firewall, and then perform a backup and uncheck Include a system image of Drivers (C:) checkbox again. If the problem exists, please locate C:\Windows\Logs\WindowsBackup. There is a log named "Backup Files*_error.log" will be created when starting backup. We can check the detail error about the backup hangs.

Hello and thanks for answer.Yes it is RC Build Build 7100. As I have installed that system an a separate computer and use it for test only I will wait for RTM to come.Checkbox "Include a system image of drives: System Reserved, Win-7 System (C:)" is unchecked. So I understand that only user date is to be saved.Error log "Y:\ because it cannot be found on drive Y:\. skipped" A little strange for me is that backup job does not stop if I try it by checkbox. Only answering "stopping" but not really does. Cancelling by task manager works.Again thanks and have a good weekend.
