Windows 7 backup
Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Users\Steve\Desktop\Locust and Wild Honey to Mp3. Error:(The system cannot find the file specified. (0x80070002)) I have a folder on my desktop containing Mp3 files. I decided to move it to another folder in my documents. When running backup I get the above error. When I move the folder back onto my desktop backup runs fine. I have tried erasing all backup files from my external hard drive and starting a new backup but still have same issue.

There must be a manifest somhere that stores as file list for backup to refer to and it could be deleted. There have bean are several posts about this.

Like you I had a similar problem when I moved and deleted files and then ran backup & restore. I will not comment on the why it happens; but I got around the problem by uncheck " Let Windows choose" and "Data" files and "Libraries" for backup" and checked "Let me choose" Drive C and system image. I can vouch for the reliability of such a backup because I have used them twice with no problems.Old Mig15 pilot. Now using Windows 7 Professional and Project Professional 2010 Beta.

I have some suggestions regarding the issue and error message: 1. You can run chkdsk /R on drive C, if any bad sector(s) exists and detected by chkdsk then backup will ignore those automatically. 2. Check the following KB article: How to troubleshoot Windows Backup and Restore issues when a reparse point folder or its subfolder is added to a user library in Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973455/en-us 3. Temporarily disable any antivirus program on the computer. Hope this helps! Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I am happy to offer some suggestions, but you will need to go to the Windows 7 Support forums at the following link for help with troubleshooting: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/w7itpro You may want to run a CheckDisk or your favorite hard drive checker. You can run CheckDisk by going to Start, right click the drive, choose Properties, go to the Tools tab and click Check Now. If the CheckDisk is clear, you may want to try doing a System File scan by going to Start, All Programs, Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator. You may be prompted to continue. In the Command Prompt type the following command and press enter: sfc /scannow If you are worried about data loss, you should be able to back up those files manually or at the very least, all of your documents and personal files, movies, etc.
