Windows 7 annoyances - eidt option, paint.
Ok, I have finnally switched to Windows 7 ultimate x64 from XP pro. I admit, its not so bad, and I kinda like it, but I still am having some minor issues;
1) I can't seem to change the 'Right click>Edit" program. I have Google-ed it, and found some stuff about Default program, but the option for RDP file extension is not there, and the windows don't match. The 2 file edits I would like to change
would be BMP >edit with paint, and RDP> edit with notepad. NOTE: this is about the EDIT option,
NOT the OPEN option
2) I like the new paint ok, but now when I draw a line, it selects the line after I release the mouse, instead of letting me click and make a new line (I draw a line, and click, and it grabs the end of the line and reshapes it, ghaaa). Is there a way
to change this?blankmonkey

This behavior is by design. I suggest you access the following website for information regarding how to user paint.

1) Thank you for your reply, but the referanced link shows only how to manipulate 3rd party app's, not the default "Edit" option.
2) Ty again, I suspected that I could not change it, dang :(blankmonkey

OK, I have fixed this for anyone who comes behind.
It is a reg hack, so all disclaimers apply.
I finally searched the entire registry for mstsc.exe and found what I was looking for;
Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\RDP.file\shell\Edit\command
change the (Default) from mstsc.exe -edit "%1"
To notepad.exe "%1"blankmonkey
