Windows 7 and type 1 font problems
I think that I have found one solution to issues concerning Type 1 fonts not appearing in programs such as older versions of Adobe Creative suite. But I arrived at it a different way than using Adobe products. I am using OpenOffice and the program refused to 'see' the Type 1 fonts I had correctly installed as per recommended instructions - however, in Windows Notepad I could freely use all the fonts I had installed. I then realised I had installed OpenOffice before installing the fonts - I then removed the program completely and re-installed. I can now use, in OpenOffice, all the new fonts Type 1 fonts added. It could perhaps be that the 'updating' mechanism of cheaper, and older dtp software is not able to recognise 'added' fonts (in a Windows 7 environment), but will correctly load them if the fonts are already in the computer - in which case it may be well to ensure you have ALL the Type 1 fonts you may wish to use in the Windows 7 system BEFORE loading older Adobe software The users of older Adobe Creative Suites may have to do this in order for programs such as InDesign, Photoshop, etc., to 'see' the Type 1 fonts. I'm not sure if this will work, but it works for OpenOffice. Good luck!
