Windows 7 and network printers
Hi all,I have recently done a deployment of approx 20 Windows 7 Pro 32-Bit machines. We have a server running SBS 2008 and everything was running fine on 2 UAT machines before deployment. There are 2 printers, both Kyoceras - a KX-5035 and a Taskalpha 400ci. The latest universal printing drivers have been used. When the 20 machines were rolled out, the printing (which was direct to the printer) started to bog down and hang the machines until the print job was complete. This could take up to 20 minutes to render the job. A print servere was put in place running XP pro. This solved the speed issues but would fall offline all the time and needed to reboot. Yesterday, the XP box was replaced by server 2003 to run as a print server. The print jobs are quicker but still not instant and holds up the PC for about a minute or 2 each time something is printed. Ideally I was the print server gone and return to the direct print method but have no idea why the print jobs are killing the machines in this configuration. If anyone else has struck this and can provide a solution I would appreciate it. The exact same print configuration when running XP worked without an issue. Thanks in advance

We are not able to find our Kyocera Taskalpha 400ci through "add printer," with any of our new office PCs running Windows 7 64bit. The company that sold it to us is coming out on a service call to fix it, so I will be sure to post the solution if they find one. We didn't have trouble with Vista or even Apple's latest system, so we may have to drop back and use an older machine as the print server.
