Windows 7 and dual boot with xp error
Hi I recently acquired a Dell computer with windows 7 preinstalled. I want to install XP as a dual boot. I partioned the hard disk and started the computer, booting from CD to install XP on the new partioned. Windows setup started but reported the following: " Windows has detected an error and has shutdown. If you installed new harddrrive....." I am unable to install xp and suggestions as to how I can overcome this would be appreciated Eltaro

Hi Eltaro You must be very careful with this. The usual procedure is to install the oldest version of Windows (XP) first and then install the newest version. Before attempting this, see the following website for the complete instructions about how to proceed.
