Windows 7 and Vista DHCP issues
(Reposting here as it seems more relevant http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itprovistanetworking/thread/152912b2-905f-4b00-a85d-29a7171764d0) I have been using my Vista laptop for a couple of years now. Its connected to the internet via DLink router. I just bought a Win7 laptop - whenever I try to connect it to the network (wireless or wired) I am seeing strange behavior. The router logs are showing a constant stream of dhcp requests from the Win7 laptop. I have tried ipconfig renew/release a couple of times as suggested on some of the other threads - no luck. The other thing I noticed is that the Vista laptop disconnects from the network after some time when the Win7 machine is attempting to get online. When I shutdown my win7 laptop, the Vista laptop eventually reconnects. Has someone seen this behavior? Any suggestions on a fix? Thanks, NM

Hi, May I know if the Windows 7 computer have got a valid IP Address and it can access the network without issues? At this time, please also check the following: 1. Boot the Windows 7 computer to Safe Mode with networking and see how it works. 2. Update the NIC driver of the Windows 7 computer. 3. Update the router’s firmware. If you have another router, please also try it. Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
