Windows 7 and MSIEXEC
I am having some issues getting Adobe Reader X installed on a Windows 7 64 bit machine. I noticed that there are two msiexec, exe files. There is a msiexec.exe in the c:\Windows\System32 folder and a msiexec.exe in the C:\Windows\SysWow64 folder. Versions, etc are all exactly the same, yet the file sizes are different. C:\Windows\System32\msiexe.exe is 124 KB C:\Windows\SysWow64\msiexec.exe is 71.5 Kb What is the difference and should one be used over the other on a Windows 7 (64 bit) machine? Thanks, Sandy

I think you should use the sysWow64 one because it is kept in the 64 bit area of windows, it is more likely to be the correct one, I think that they will be pretty much the same anyway, I think they ship both because of compatibilty features in windows 7

Thanks, Sandy Don't worry about the two versions of msiexec - one's a 32-bit version, and the other is a 64-bit version. What actual problem are you having with the Adobe installation? - What EXACT error messages are you getting? Have you tried re-downloading it? Note that the installer is actually a stub for the Adobe Download Manager, which then downloads the program itself - you may be having issues with a firewall, if you are using 3rd-party software. -- Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth

Thanks for the responses. With this additional information and also finding out from the Adobe Forum that the Reader X executable is the same for both XP SP3 and Windows 7, I want to try a couple of things inside and SCCM package, then will post back here, with either sucess or failure with documentation. Thanks, Sandy
