Windows 7 and Exchange 2003
Hi
I am having issues getting a my first Windows 7 PC connected to our Exchange 2003 Server. The issue is that it is very very slow to open and use Outlook 2007 on the Windows 7 PC although eventually it does open but crashes constantly when trying to use it.
I am confident that the issue is between Windows 7 and Exchange 2003 as if I configure Outlook 2007 on the same Windows 7 PC to point to a mailbox on an Exchange 2007 server it opens no problem and straight away (we have an Exchange 2003 and 2007 servers
in our enviroment).
I have tried all the obvious things such as creating new profiles and disabling add-ons but as I say the fact that it works ok when opening a mailbox on the Exchange 2007 server tells me there is something with Windows 7 and Exchange 2003.
Has anyone else come across this?

If you havent already maybe try updating your exchange 2003 server with service pack 2. It sorted out a lot of issues for us.

I have an update to this if it helps resolve.
It seems this only the happens the first time Outlook 2007 launched after the PC starts up. It takes ages to open and basically doensnt function properly i.e. crashes if you try to open emails etc.
If I then kill the Outlook process and then launch it again it opens instantly and functions normally until the PC is rebooted and then the same issue happens again.
Very strange but hopefully this helps narrow down the problem.

Further Update
This does not appear to be an issue between Windows 7 and Exchange 2003. At the moment the issues appears to be between this particular PC and the Exchange 2003 Server.
If we RDP from this PC to the Exchange Server box the connection is very "intermittent" - it hangs and drops. If we RDP from the PC to any other server we have it is fine.
Even stranger however going to more testing

Hi Issproking,
Temporarily turn off the firewall/anti-virus software to test the issue.

Miya

I am still no further forward with this, have now tried it on a few other laptops and PC's and still the same issue
This happens even in safe mode with networking
Surely other people must be having this issue if you have a Windows 7 system, have installed SP1 and using Exchange 2003?
I am confident that this is a bug in Windows 7 SP1 and Exchange 2003 SP2
Has anyone else got this enviroment and had the same problem?

We're having very similar issues. Exch-2003 residing with the AD-DC (I know, not recommended...). Anyhows, Win7 PCs have trouble with RDC to the exchange server and outlook 2010 also doesn't work. When I switch to a winXP box with Outlook 2007 things seem
better but not perfect. Still have to prod outlook.
This issue appears to be getting progressively worse the more win7 servers we add to our network. What I mean by 'worse' is that we are experiencing more and more exchange 2003 'disconnected/trying to connect...' events throughout the day on ALL PCs. Webmail
(OWA) also goes down during these 'events'.
Some users on Macs are not having this issue (just to highlight that this seems specific to Windows-Outlook and Exchange)
