Windows 7 and DOS 6_22 network Getting ERROR 50 trying to use printer.
Hi,I hope to post my issue in the correct section of the forum.I'm trying to create a network between a host running Windows 7 64 bit and a virtual machine guest running MS-DOS 6_22 using VirtualBox.I used MS Client 3.0 to get connected with ms-dos, using TCP/IP protocol and static addresses. Infact, in order to avoid that windows 7 can't identify the network and so set it as public giving no access to it, I followed a suggestion found in the web saying I had to set TCP/IP addresses and default gateway manually both for windows 7 and the guest. So I set for win 7TCP/IP 192.168.0.1DEFAULT GATEWAY 192.168.0.2SUBNETMASK 255.255.255.0and, for dos 6_22TCP/IP 192.168.0.2DEFAULT GATEWAY 192.168.0.1SUBNETMASK 255.255.255.0Now, when I run dos 6_22 in the virtual machine,I manage to connect to the host and, using net use command, to connect to the printer assigning it LPT1 port, but when I try to print the printer can't work. Moreover, if I try to execute the command net print LPT1or the similar commands, I get the errorERROR 50: This request is not supported by the network. Can anyone help me with the problem?I would really appreciate it.Thanks Davide

OK you are confused on the networking, that setup would not work.To network the two you could just bind the VM nic to the nic in the PC and you could have the DHCP server assign IP or you could use static IP's on the network. If you only want the host to see the guest then using the VM nic in NAT mode would do that.In the above you have the gateway Ip set as the other box this is wrong, you have no gateway so you can not assign oneyou would only assign IP and subnet mask the gateway would be blank

Excuse me but I'm not expert in these things, can you explain me more precisely what have I to do?If I just set the nat card using an IntelPRO/1000 MT Desktop windows 7 seems not to see the guest.Where can I find it?If I use the dos program I need and run the print command, nothing appends...Thanks
