Windows 7 and 64 bit Print drivers
I have a test windows 7 64 bit computer that is on our domain. Our print server is a Windows server 2003 R2 32 bit server. I have a printer that is using the universal printer driver version 6 (32 bit). I downloaded the 64 bit universal printer drive version 6 and added it to the addtional drivers tab. When windows 7 sees the printer it stats that i has to download the drivers from the server. i click ok, and it downloads the drivers. Then it pops up with an 00000bcb error. I cannot seem to figure this one out. If i make a new printer and add the 64 bit drivers it works just fine. Anything i can try or do you need any additional information?

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums. What is the brand and model of the printer? Ensure that you downloaded the latest version of 64-bit driver. Its been awhile since this happened but i believe our Universal Printer driver (from HP) was corrupt. I had to do some cleanup and change all the printer from UPDs (Universal Print Drivers) to something else (short term). Then re-download the UPDs and change the printers back to UPDs. THen everything seemed to work better. We only had a handful of UPDs at the time, so this would be an awful task for someone with Hundreds of printers.Where ever you go, there you are.
