Windows 7 administrator privileges issues while attempting to run MS 2007 Service Pack uninstall tool
Hi all, My laptop is running on 64-bit Windows 7, with SP1. I am trying to uninstall MS Office 2007 SP3 which I don't want to have installed. Why? Preventing SP3 from installation seems to me the only fix for my Outlook 2007 connectivity issues with MS Exchange Server, which I have been trying to resolve with the SP3 installed and failed. So, after downloading and unpacking the SP Uninstall tool (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd723551(v=office.12).aspx) I can't use it because the tool requires administrative permissions. I am the only user of my PC and my privileges are set to administrator. Is there anything specific I need to do?

Hi, Please pay attention to the following note about the SP uninstall tool. Note: You must be an administrator on the local computer to use the uninstall tool to remove a release. If you are using a computer that is running Windows Vista, you must run the tool from an administrator command prompt. You must close all 2007 Office system applications before you begin to uninstall SP2 or SP3. You may run command prompt as Administrator via the following steps. Type cmd (without quotes) in search bar; Right click the cmd.exe and run as administrator; Then follow the KB article suggestion. Here is one article including three methods about how to open elevated command with Admin privileges.
