Hi Jack, you can try opening a command Prompt in administrator mode, navigating to the c:\windows\fonts folder and install font from there. Also, you can check the following link:Install or uninstall fontshttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Install-or-uninstall-fontsYou can also check the following link regarding permission related issues:Solving setup errors by using the SubInACL tool to repair file and registry permissionshttp://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/09/04/739820.aspxHope this helps!Sean Zhu - MSFT

Dear Sean, Thanks for your response. However, How do I grant the permission for user (without administrator permission) to add the fonts. Please advice. Thanks,Jack

Microsoft has again outdone themselves. I can find no good easy way for a regular user to add fonts in Windows 7. Thanks Microsoft, now I have to give end users admin rights to install a font. Good one.

I got rights for users to install/delete fonts in windows 7 by doing the following:Give users full rights in the registry to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontsDownload subinacl -> http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe-4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=enFrom command line: subinacl /file c:\windows\fonts /grant=users=F Still haven't tested whether this survives sysprep or not. Thanks again MS for making life easy.

No this does not work with uac. I've only found 1 solution to use UAC and admin rights. I've done alot of searching and I don't think anyone has been able to get both. First you need a 3rd party Font installer/viewer AMP Font viewer is good its free infact its better than what windows has http://www.ampsoft.net/utilities/FontViewer.php Once installed right click the short cut and then click left compatibility and select run as administrator. Second you need to use script logic privilege authority. http://www.scriptlogic.com/ I use this program a lot to give basic users rights to certain .exe or folder paths. It uses GPO so it can push its policy right away to many machines its awesome. A good example is I allow users with this program to update adobe reader and Java since I can give them admin rights to those 2 things and NOT the whole machine. In privilege authority you create a policy to give admins rights to the AMP .exe. Now they can open the program it will run as admin and I have given them rights to do so. This allows them not to have full admin rights to the whole PC and it allows that 1 program to install fonts even with uac enbled.

This worked for me in adding fonts in Windows 7: I just dragged and dropped the fonts I wanted to install in the Fonts folder in Control Panel. Windows automatically then installed the fonts. Hope this helps.

I too was having probs with easily installing fonts into windows 7. I tried to drag and drop to no avail. what did work though was to doubleclick on the font I downloaded and saw an "install' button. Success. :-)
