that error message appeared with the Vista Beta as well, heres a link to a thread where it was discussed then, with a couple of possible solutions.http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itprovistaannouncements/thread/6cb65e79-5971-41a1-9250-7eb221e29fcf/

Let us know whether it works or not, in case others run into the same issue. And if it doesnt work, then hopefully others will be able to suggest more solutions.

Try getting a new code from the Microsoft website (on the download page) and see what that does.

Did you install Deamon Tools. In the bad old days of windows Vista beta there was a similar problem. If that is not the case, I guess one of your certificates went ballistic. Type"cmd.exe" in the search box, and select "Run as Administrator". Accept the dialog boxes that will come up. Type the following and hit enter (unless your drive is not c:, in which case you replace that value with the driveletter you put your windows on) chkdsk c: /R chkdsk will ask you if you'd like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts. Press Y then enter and rebootRegardsRem

Last chance, (this really hurts to suggest this) restore.System restore, this opens a screen where you can select a date prior to the beginning of your problem. This worked for me once, BUTThis is going to take a lot of time. Your computer (at certain stages) will seem to be "dead"/frozen. It is not. It's just slow. You may run into the problems I had with it, which is the WINDOWS IS LOGGING OFF screen. After 1 hour of waiting, I rebooted the computer manually. (not really indicated)System started, went straight to a sort of XP-ish style window:1)stating that the restoration wasn't complete2) telling me to shut up and don't touch the computer3) telling me to be patient. Then, suddenly, a miracle. The wicked thing restarted and FIAT LUXRegardsRem

You are dead.Seriously, make a backup of all (that means ALL) your personal data to a cd or dvd or key or whatever, but don't keep it on your machine.Next step will be to reinstall the whole lot, with formatting etc. etc.You may want to use third party software to check your harddisk. Something is wrong with your data / certificates; the reasons may vary from cd/dvd emulators like deamon poweriso or magiciso. It's not that those programs are buggy, but they are not really compliant with windows 7 beta.I have no other solution tu propose than reformatting and reinstalling your windows 7. I just hope for you that you didn't use it as your primary (and only) OS.btw; If you don't activate, you will no longer be able to log in, which limites the use of windows 7 greatly.Good luckRem
