Windows 7 Wireless old SSID that wont go away
I'm not good with wireless networks and connections so perhaps this is an easy fix... I used to have a wiress connection where I used to live named 104 Pine St. - Was the street I lived on. When I moved I got a new wireless routed but continued to use the same wireless ssid, "104 Pine St." However my neighbor decided to start using the connection as well so I signed into my router and used a new ssid name, Bennett, and added the proper security stuff to it. However when I look at my wireless connections 104 Pine St. is still showing up and I'm still able to connect to it, so I assume my neighbor will be able to also. So my questions, How do I get rid of this 104 Pine St. so my neighbor stops using my internet connection? Thanks

Hi If the Router is configured with Wireless Encryption (WAP/WPA2) it does not matter the there is visible SSID. However, log again to the Router with a wire connection, and make sure that the changes that you did before actually took over. Jack, MVP-Networking. EZLAN.NET

What brand/model router do you have? Hi, It is suggested to contact the router manufacture for direct assistance as different manufacture has different settings. Either reset the router or block SSID broadcasting.
