Windows 7 Wireless
Hi, I have a strange problem when setting up a wireless profile manually in Windows 7. I might misunderstand something here, so this is why I'm posting. After setting up the profile I discovered that the profile was not working because I got a red cross over my wireless name in the list of wireless networks and a message saying that my settings are incorrect for this network. But here is the funny part;even though I do very big changes I keep getting this annoying message. My question is. How can I force it to try to reconnect with my new settings or even with my present settings? I removed the profile and re-created it; same thing. - Jacob

Hi Jacob, To make the issue clear, please let us know the brand and model of the wireless NIC and capture a screenshot on the screen that there is a red cross over the wireless name. Capture a screenshot ============== 1) Press the Print Screen key (PrtScn) on your keyboard. 2) Click the "Start" menu, type "mspaint" in the Search Bar and Press Enter. 3) In the Paint program, click the "Edit" menu, click "Paste", click the "File" menu, and click "Save". 4) The "Save As" dialogue box will appear. Type a file name in the "File name:" box, for example: "screenshot". 5) Make sure "JPEG (*.JPG;*.JPEG;*.JPE;*.JFIF)" is selected in the "Save as type" box, click Desktop on the left pane and then click "Save". Please use Windows Live SkyDrive (http://www.skydrive.live.com/) to upload the screenshot and share its URL with us. Meanwhile, please also double-check this network configuration and ensure that the encryption type, password and other settings are proper. If there is another wireless network, please check if you can connect to it. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
