Windows 7 Update Error Code: 800704B3
I tried to install the latest updates when this error accured: ( It's a german error and I translated it ) Error: Code 800704B3 Unknown error accured! I reconnected to the internet and I made a lot of free space. I wanted to install this updates: ( I think it doesn't matters, because theres no difference, I tried to install them seperatly ) -KB915597 -Office 2007 SP2 -and some other optinals I can't imagine why these updates fail, I would say, that I know very much about computers, but I can't solve this problem. I have to add something that might be irrelevant, but on the one hand I hope you can help me solving this problem too on the other hand it has something to do with installations. Whenever I try to install something with the Windows MSI installer, it fails with this error: The installer was unable to connect to the installer-service. ... ( It's translated from german, too. If the full error message matters, I'll post it. ) I reinstalled the service but nothing switches. Sorry for my english and try to not read my faults ;)

MistaNegativ - That error number you posted (800704B3) refers to a networking error - the text of the message reads:"The network path was either typed incorrectly, does not exist, or the network provider is not currently available. Please try retyping the path or contact your network administrator."Since you're trying to connect to Windows Update, obviously, you didn't type anything in. Windows Update definitely exists. So that leaves the possibility thatWindows Update could have been down for maintenence, or something is sitting in the way between you and the WU servers - like a proxy server or firewall. Make sure your firewall isn't blocking any Microsoft.com sites - like update.microsoft.com. And if you're running a proxy server, it's set up correctly.

There isn't any proxy in my network, and the only firewall ( windows built-in ) is turned off... I cecked it and tried it several times, so the Servers has to be down very long.

MistaNegativ, Ensure that you don't have a static IP address configured, as this will cause all of your built-in Windows networking utilities to fail. To do this, open the Network and Sharing Center in the Control Panel, then select "Change adapter settings" from the left pane. Right-click on your active network device, and select Properties. The new menu should display a list of all installed network connection items. From this list, double-click on IPv4 and IPv6 in turn, and ensure that both are set to "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain a DNS server address automatically."-Alex

You could follow the steps described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555175/en-us. And do yourself a favor, don't read the german version of these instructions (or do it only for fun).Mobile AMD64 3000+, VIA Apollo K8T800 chipset, 1 G RAM, ATIRadeonMobility 9700, 20x DVDRW, C:XPSP3 (55G),D:WIN7 (25G),F:DATA (250G)

One thing I didn't see in the article was download and manual install.Try each update separately. Find the Knowledge Base article forthe update on Microsoft Support. If the KB number isn't shown in the Windows Update listing, right clickthe update to get more information (Vista). The KB article should have a download link, where you can download and save the update.Double click the downloaded file to execute it, and see if it will install this way.Sometimes, it seems that one update is a pre-requisite to another, and Windows Update is installing them in the wrong order. By changing the order, sometimes the install will work.

MistaNegative,Let's take another route. Let's try and find out why your MSI installer service isn't running (and see if any others are failing as well).Check the event log about the installer service and post here what you find. And look for the Windows update service and make sure it's running as well.

I have also been having pretty much the entire strings problems and haven't been able to get any solutions to work. I have and Asus UL50VT laptop I get the "WindowsUpdate_800704B3" "WindowsUpdate_dt000" I get the access denied message when I try to install or move or copy almost anything. Another new twist is everytime I try to fix something I get a pop up that states Error: Another instance of this application was detected. Only one instance of this application may be running at any time. The computer won't let me install updates. I have a fairly new computer and this is driving me crazy but I really want to save the files and the only response I have gotten from some is to wipe it and re-install Windows 7. Really would appreciated some step by step help or a link to a solution I am not an expert here.
