Windows 7 Ultimate on MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard - Shuts down and reboots every 10-12 minutes when no activity occurs!
Everything was working fine yesterday on my MacBook Pro (Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, T9900 @ 3.06GHz, 8.0 GB Ram, 64-bit Opwrating System). Today at startup working on the PC side with Windows 7 Ultimate I noticed that the computer shut down every 10-12 minutesn and then re-started on its own. As long as I was using the computer (no idle time) the restarts would not happen. The only time the restartes happen is when the computer sat idle for 10-12 minutes. Last week I had installed all the latest updates to Windows 7 and MS Office 2007. I also installed the Snow Leopard BootCamp.exe file on the PC partitition accepting all the defaults. Visio 2007 was also installed last week. Prior to installing the updates and BootCamp, I was not able to hear sound on the PC side of the system. The sound worked perfectly on the Macinish partitition. The sound is working fine on both the Mac and the PC sides at this time. Thanks for the help!Peter:-)

Hi,If everything worked fine yesterday, system restore can be under consideration. What is the exact symptom when the PC shut down itself? I suggest turn off screensaver and roll back your video card driver from device manager as a test first. To troubleshoot the issue, boot into safe mode so that we can determine if the issue was caused by software or hardware.Restart the computer and start pressing the F8 key on the keyboard. On a computer that is configured to boot multiple Operating Systems, press the F8 key when you see the boot menu. When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, select Safe Mode, and then press Enter. Log onto Windows by using the Administrator account or any user account with Administrator privileges.

Go to Event Viewer to check if any information is logged and locate the abnormal shutdown, copy and share the information with us.1) Click "Start", input "eventvwr" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search bar and press Enter. 2) Expand the "Windows Logs" node on the left pane, expand "Application" and "System" to see if any error message is related to shutdown. Copy the details and paste in your post.Best RegardsDale

I have the same problem - random shutdowns -- only happens when I run windows - does not happen when OSX is running
