Windows 7 Ultimate Will not Shut Down
I have done 2 clean installs and my system is a custom built so no cheep junk was used, The OS is on 2 WD 500GB SATA drives which are mirrored using hardware RAID and Data section is really not important but just in case Data stored on 6 1TB WD SATA drives using Hardware Raid as well. I did not have this problem the Beta version of Windows 7 and I have a limited edition of Vista Ultimate signed by Bill Gates that lasted 2 weeks before I reinstalled XP Pro before installing Windows & Ultimate Beta.I am an MCSE 2003 and have done a lot of tinkering before getting to this step. My guess is it something simple and I am going to feel like a complete idiot for not figuring it out. But hello Microsoft Guys the list is growing with people with the same problem it may be time for you to take it as an oops we made a mistake or at least tell us how to fix it.PLEASE we need a little guidance here. Especially before I go and install Windows 7 Professional on my other Desktop.

Hello,Does the problem also happen in Clean Boot Mode and Safe Mode? Try to disable Write-caching feature:1. Open Device Manager->Properties of Hard drive->Policies.2. Uncheck the option "Enable write caching on the devices."If the issue persists, run the following command line to shut down the computer manually:shutdown /sWhat's the result? Thomas77

I have followed your instructions (cmd: shutdown /s) but my computer does not shut down (I have windows 7 ultimate). It hangs for nearly 30 minutes on the 'shutting down screen' and then reboots. Thanks for reading this! LPP_DEV
