Windows 7 Ultimate 64 won't connect to WPA2 network but will connect to an unsecured network
Hello, I've completed a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 on existing hardware previously using Vista. I have a Dynex G router that has the following enabled WPA/WPA2-Personal(PSK) - Security Mode WPA-PSK + WPA2/PSK - Authentication TKIP + AES - Encryption Technique After installing Windows 7 my machine seemingly connects to the network but hangs up showing "Identifying Network" with no internet connection; also the router when logged into from another PC does not show the Win 7 desktop connected to the router. Network and Sharing Center shows connection to the Network (Identifying) and a red "X" between Network and Internet. When I disable the security within the router completely the Win 7 desktop will connect to the router and to the internet. So it seems it's an issue with WPA2 Security. All WNIC card, Chipset drivers are up to date. It seems like W7 with all the hype should be able to complete such a simple task with no issues. Any advice?

Hi, May I know if the computer can access the router with WPA2? At this time, please also try the following: 1. Check if the network connection works if you manually assign IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and the DNS settings to the wireless NIC referring to your network settings on a good computer. 2. Update the routers firmware. 3. If there is another wireless network which is secured with WPA2, please check if you can connect to it. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT

I am having the exact same problem with my Dlink Dir-655, except that I can set up an encrypted connection, and it will work for a few hours or maybe a day before being unable to connect again until I reset my router and set it up all over again. Have tried everything over the last 2 weeks, including updating firmware. Dlink people can't help at all. It stays connected when I set it up as unsecured, but the internet slows down considerably, making that a poor option. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hello, Theissue has been resolved by rolling back the NIC drivers to Windows Default driver from the driver that came with the NIC (Dynex Enhanced G card). Now everything works. Thanks, Sergey

Any chance someone can explain to me how to roll back the driver to the Windows default? I tried going to my adapter configuration settings and just hitting the "roll back driver" button, but that doesn't seem to roll it back to windows default. I'm obviously not all that sophisticated. Thanks. Jay

Hi Jay, You can also try the following: 1. Completely remove the NIC driver. 2. Reboot the computer and let Windows find a driver for it. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
