Hey, I've recently bought a new laptop, and a while after I start it up, (usually 30 mins - 2 hours) it completely locks up, and the same half second of sound loops back continuously. The only way I can get the damned thing to even switch off is by holding the power button for 10 seconds. As far as I can tell, it's not program specific. Happens on chrome, notepad, desktop, mediaplayer and games.. basically everything. I'd suspect overheating, bad RAM, or power supply problems. Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP
