Windows 7 Ultimate - taskbar icons disappear
Running 7 Ultimate with all updates installed on Dell laptop Inspiron 6400, intell 2.0 duo core processor, 2 GB ram. Ultimate 7 has generally been working well, but on occasion, and with no consistent set of circumstances, the icons in the taskbar either disappear altogether or sometimes they show but when I click on them I get an error message that "the item has been moved or deleted" of similar wording. Anyone have similar problem or possible solutions?

I don't know if this will work on Windows 7, but here is the way to fix it in Windows Vista:http://www.colincochrane.com/post/2007/10/Windows-Vista-Disappearing-System-Tray-Icons-Fix.aspxKind RegardsFilip Wilms

This sounds like a video driver issue. The latest video drivers for your particular Dell are for Windows Vista but they may work if you install them in compatibility mode.-Scott

This link works for Win7 HP. The icons kept switching so I had the Firefox icon opening IE. I used the suggested Windows Three-finger salute, whacked explorer.exe under processes, the under file started explorer back up. Problem solved. And, no it is not a driver problem. It's happened to me on five different PCs, one fresh out of the box, all with different GPUs. It's obviously a Windows feature.Fr Elise - Support the Heart & Breast Cancer Foundations. http://www.amazon.com/Gospel-Our-Lord-Jesus-Christ/dp/1449947565/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1265754374&sr=1-15
