Windows 7 Ultimate - create a system image - fails 0x80780048
When I open BACKUP and RESTORE to CREATE a SYSTEM IMAGE
I select my USB 320gb drive, it says I need 168gb to save system
image and it may overwrite older files.
I select it, then it says not enough space and gives me the 0x80780048 msg
This is a very common error with no answer that I see, just links to answers that do not work

It never completed, I reread my post and do not see where I said that.
You are dead in the water at this point.
If you look at the internet you see this has been going on for some time.
All that happens is just like the answer above, a lot of links to irrelevant answers.
I have not seen a way around this without formatting the drive and starting over.

Hi,
Backup and restore only allows for 1 system image to be stored on a drive. When you try to backup a second machine, the backup starts
to write to the correct folder. When Backup trys to save the system image, it finds already exists and the error mentioned is presented. Try on another USB drive or partition it.

No solution for win backup here, but I had the same problem and I had a Ghost BU which also failed. Ghost failed because I had upgraded from ghost 12 to 14 and not made a new ghost 14 recovery disk. Im checking wwith Symantec abt that There has to be a
better way. If you do get a solution PM me to let me know and I will Pm you if I find something
