Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bits) - kept asking me to activate it every 10 mins despite of the fact I activated it online and phoned every day in last 2 weeks...
I have got problem (annoying one) with Windows 7 activation. It kept asking me to activate it every 10 mins (or thereabout) even though I never add new one nor make any change to my hardware/system, in last 2 weeks. Here's background. I built my system last year and I bought official DVD rom of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits and install it (as upgrade to release candidate build 7600). I activated it once and it never appeared again. Now, about 3 weeks or so, I installed some updates to windows 7 and it made Windows 7 so unstable (BSOD every few mins after I boot/restart it). I used system restore to back to old Windows 7 prior to updates. It asked me to activate Windows 7. Reasonable request so I activated it online first but it doesn't seem to work so I phoned and got my windows 7 activated successfully. I was told that I shouldn't see any more activation message unless I make any new change to hardware. I didn't change to my hardware at all and yet Winodws 7 kept asking me to activate it. I ran anti-virus (malware) and MSE and nothing's wrong with it. And yet I activated it online and it was successfully activated. Bingo, 10 mins later or thereabout, it asks me to activate windows 7 again and again and again. It is so annoying as you can see. I ran Microsoft Genuine Advantage diag tool and I post the result below. Please could anyone suggest solution to this activation problem? Thank you. However, the system appears to be activated. This means that you have a hackers Loader tool installed to bypass proper activation. without knowing the exact Loader used, its difficult to advise anything except a complete reformat/reinstall with genuine media and a proper Key. If you have no valid Full License for Windows on this machine you will have to purchase one. Since you already claim to have an Upgrade, you could purchase a Full license for a lower edition of Win7, and use the Upgrade to get to Ultimate but I have grave suspicions that your problem is caused by a counterfeit disk, and would recommend that you purchase a Full version of whichever edition of Windows 7 you actually need note that unless you need BitLocker, there is almost no reason to use Ultimate. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/compare?T1=tab20 Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth

Sorry for my late reply as I was away in the past week. Thanks for the explanation. I have got this DVD software box of Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate. It doesn't say whether it is for upgrade only or full version. I am a bit disappointed that Microsoft doesn't make it clear that Release candidate version is not qualifying for license. I am not expert IT user so Microsoft can't expect every single user to know that release candidate is okay for upgrading or not etc. Anyway, not sure if this counts as hacker tool or not. I used some 3rd party tool to change that lock-on/welcome screen/login screen (to use my personal holiday snap as wallpaper for that screen). Would that be issue? Should i remove that tool? I am going to buy new hard drive and install Windows 7 Professional (from my same DVD software box) from the scratch and hopefully it should solve the problem? (since my problem is seemingly rooted from the fact that I used to have release candidate version on my PC before I bought the official software box). Do you think that this new hard drive/fresh installation (from scratch/no previous OS) will solve this problem once and for all? Many thanks again for any advice.

If your disk doesn't stat 'Upgrade' on it then it should be the Full version. No - your customisation has nothing to do with it. It is NOT possible to activate a system with the Default Key - unless an Activation Exploit is used. Occasionally it's possible for Windows to 'lose' the installed Key - but that gives a completely different result in the MGADiag report. Does the Key on your package agree with that shown in the report? If so, it's a counterfeit. Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth

The quote: "Does the Key on your package agree with that shown in the report? If so, it's a counterfeit." I assume you referred to 'Windows Product Key' in the report (at 5th line from the top of the report)? If yes, then I can confirm that key (of the report) is different from the product key on my package.

Hi, If the product key on the package is valid, you can use that key to activate current Windows 7 to solve the issue. Click start -> right click Computer in the right pane-> select properties -> on the bottom, click Change product key. Or you can contact Microsoft Product Activation Center for help. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950929 Meanwhile, I notice you want to buy a new hard drive and install Windows 7 Professional (from my same DVD software box). The package is for Windows 7 Ultimate with associated product key, you cannot use it to install Windows 7 Professional. Best Regards, Niki Niki Han TechNet Community Support
