Windows 7 Tablet PC no settings?
I am using a Gateway Convertable M285-E Tablet PC. After installing Windows 7 RC NO SETTINGS APPEAR for my Tablet PC. It will only run in Laptop mode? There is no pen calibration icon in the control panel. When I flip the screen around, there is a physical button on my monitor that when pressed will adjust the screen to Tablet viewing. This button has no response! Even my pen is not recognized? Is there a setting that needs to be turned on? I do know that XP SP3 will disable all tablet PC settings for this Gateway. However it works GREAT with Vista! Unfortunately Gateway sold the Business section of their Laptops to MPC who went bankrupt last year. However the residential section of laptops was sold off to ACER.Any ideas with what to do? I would really like to test Windows 7 but I need my Tablet to work. Thank you.wootabeger

Hi Wootabeger, Thank you for posting here. Since Tablet PC may have some specific devices for the specific tasks, such as operating by touching the screen, inputting with the pen, etc. To make them work properly, some appropriate drivers are needed. I searched on Gateway site and found there might be no Windows 7 drivers for this Tablet PC. Alternatively, I suggest that you try the Windows Vista or Windows XP drivers and see how it works: Gateway M285-E Convertible Notebook Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. You can also try to install the drivers with Compatibility Mode or by right-clicking the installation package and selecting the option Run as Administrator. Hope this helps. Thanks. I am testing and experimenting with a Gateway Convertable M285-E Tablet PC. It is at XP SP2 and I would like to bring it to the most current OS and .net version possible. It appears that there are Vista drivers on the Gateway support site. I am considering leaving it on XP but the comment above about SP 3 disabling the tablet features concerns me. Is there a SAFE path for bring into compliance? I also want to verify that Visual Studio 2005 pro is the development platform I should install. Any help appreciated. jack fordycej@saccounty.net
