Windows 7 Sync - disable sync when connected via VPN
I am using Windows 7 Sync to synchronize files from my company's server to my work laptop. When I am working remotely, I am not supposed to access the files over the internet (which is why I want to sync before I leave the office). Is there a way to disable
all synchronization when you are connected over a VPN connection vs a LAN? Or perhaps by restricting the times when Sync can work?
In other words, when I am in the office and connected to the LAN directly, I want SyncCenter to synchronize all of my files. When I am at home and connected by VPN, I do not want any automatic or background synchronizing of files. If I want to use a synchronized
file, I will disconnect from the VPN and open the file in offline mode.
I tried going into the Administrative Templates for Offline Files and creating a blackout time for slow connections, but that did not prevent Sync from automatically synchronizing over my VPN connection.
Thank you for any suggestions.
