Windows 7 Startup display is different on several Systems
I Have installed the Win7 Rc Build 7100 on several systems. 1, Main system, 8gig ram, Intel Quad core running at 2.4, 2 Nvidia cards 88oo running in SLI mode, etc etc. (64bit) score 5.9 (harddrive) and 7.1 (prosessor/memory) 2, Targa Laptop, 2gig ram AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-50. (64bit) (4.3), Graphics NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400, (3.60. 3 Advent 4211 netboot. (32bit) score (2.3) graphics. each using seperate keys, all running the Ultimate Version happily.. Systems (1,2) both installed from same DVD(64bit). My question is this ; why does the Targa Laptop show the black "Windows Startup"screen which has the animated windows logo appearing in a swirl but the mutts nutts system, which scores a minimum of 7.1(processor) just starts with the blue (enter password) screen as does the Advent. Is there something wrong with, (A) my installations, (B) My systems. Once up and running all 3 are as sweet as a nut. Only one bsd. That was a faulty sd card.

Hi OdinI don't have any solution or ideas for you.We have seen some strange behavior with the startup screens in the Beta and RC builds. Most involve the old style Vista startup screen appearing instead of the Windows 7 animated logo. Others have reported no startup screen at all, just a long pause with a black screen and then the login screen appearing. The only common fix appears to be a reinstall, but this is extreme for a problem that doesn't really affect the operation of the system.Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

OdinBear - Puzzling. My home brewed test bed for Windows 7 has an Nvidia GeForce 7300 GS and it plays the animated logo just fine. There may be an issue with the dual 8800's in SLI mode - specifically with the drivers for the cards - there may be an issue with the SLI mode. Any chance you could pop one card out temporarily and test to see if it works any better? The Netbook's graphics likely aren't beefy enough to handle Aero properly. Netbooks aren't exactly known for bleeding edge graphics technology. The Targa sounds like it's somewhere in the middle - the graphics tech isn't too ancient, nor top of the line.
