Windows 7 Starter wi-fi connectivity
Hi,
Two days ago my internet stopped working while I was on my HP netbook. At first I thought it must be the hostels modem - but the hostels PC's work fine and everyone else's laptops seem to be okay - except for another person with Windows 7 Starter.
I checked I had the correct password and ID - I do. I checked I hadn't accidentally turned off my wi-fi - I hadn't. The hostel comes up in a list of possible network connections (full strength 5 bars) - but when I try to connect it just says it can't connect
and to troubleshoot.
I ran the troubleshooter a few times. Sometimes it says that it can't detect a problem and to restart the modem. Other times it says there is a problem with the wireless adapter or access point. But when I look up the adapter it says the following:
Broadcom 4313 802.11 b/g/n
Device type: Network adapters
Manufacturer: Broadcom
Location: PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0
Device status: This device is working properly
I did a search on the internet for problems and found this: http://support.micrsoft.com/kb/928152 - but it did not change anything.
Can anyone help me re-establish connection to the internet using my wi-fi (which up until now had been working flawlessly)
thank you,
Louie.

Uninstall the network adapter driver from "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features" and "Device Manager". Then reinstall the driver.
If it does not work, temporarily disable firewall and check the result. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
