Windows 7 Splash Scrren frooze
I have a Lenovo Think Centre computer that will freeze as soon as the logo starts to come up on Windows 7 Pro. So I put my IT skills to the test and did a multitude of things to figure this out. 1. I pulled out memory and put another stick in still does it. I then unplugged everything but the HD and it still does it. I then grabbed some utils such as UBCD for Windows, HIREM's Boot CD and both, get this, hang at the Windows XP splash screen. I then grabbed an Ubuntu Live CD and it hangs as well. The only thing that works are non GUI OS's. I ran Scan Disk and it found no errors. I could run Command (DOS) prompts with no problems. Now, I know this sounds more like a non windows 7 issue but since I stated with that OS and I am out of options I was hoping someone here has seen this.

I guess there is a problem with your GPU unit. I would also test RAM using a memory test: Built-in in Windows 7, check steps To Start from Windows Boot Manager from http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/715-memory-diagnostics-tool.html Use a third-party one like memtest etc.

I have changed out memory so I am not sure if it is that, although it wouldn't hurt to try it. The GPU was my thought as I was posting this. I tried a PCI card but it wouldn't work and not sure if it is the card or not. I will look for a known good one. Thanks for the advice. Any other advice from anyone else that can think of something else other than memory of GPU is appreciated.

It might be also the CPU and motherboard as they participate in everything, but GPU is more probable in my eyes :)

This machine is under warranty and I think you are right. I am not going to waste much time on this one. To Lenovo it will go. Thanks for the help guys.

Yes, the issue is most propably hardware related. So if the machine is still under warranty get it back to the vendor.
