Windows 7 Sound Problems
I have just installed Windows 7 Ultimate but I don't get any sound at all. I already installed Realtek AC'97 and Realtek HD AUDIO R2.45 (I also tried R2.36, R2.38, R2.42, R2.43 and R2.46 but still no good) This is all I get: http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w69/edreil143/Untitled1.jpg I also checked my plug at the back and tried every one of them and I get: Line-In http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w69/edreil143/Untitled3.jpg Mic http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w69/edreil143/Untitled-4.jpg Speaker/Headphone http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w69/edreil143/Untitled2.jpg It don't seem to detect any plugged speaker/headphone. People says if the speakers/headphones are not detected, I should go to Realtek HD Audio Manager->Connector Settings->Disable Front Panel Detection... But I don't see any options with that because at the first place, my speaker/headphone was not detected when it's properly plugged like the rest. It was still working just until I installed Windows 7. Could it be a problem on Windows 7? Coz it was working when I was still at XP. Please help.

Hi Fataln00b , Please first run the troubleshooting tool by going to Start -> Control Panel -> Troubleshooting -> Troubleshoot audio playback. Follow the wizard and see if the culprit can be found. If the issue persists, uninstall the sound card and its driver by the steps below: 1. Click "Start", input "Device Manager" (without quotation marks) in the Search box, and then press "Enter". 2. Double-click "Sound, video and game controllers" to expand it. 3. Right-click the installed Sound Card and then click Uninstall. 4. Restart the computer. 5. Run Windows Update to download the sound card driver. What is the result? If the issue persists, please collect the System Information for further research: 1. Press Start, type in msinfo32 in the Start Search bar and then press Enter. 2. Choose Save from the File menu and save it as an NFO file. 3. Find the file, right-click on this file, click "Send To", and click "Compressed (zipped) Folder". 4. Upload the compressed file to us. +++ For your convenience, I have created a workspace for you. I followed everything you said, uninstall my sound card, restart and windows update installed a sound card but still didn't work, out of all the plugs, only the speaker and headphones doesn't seem to be found coz both the mic and the line-in is detected. By the way I'm running on a motherboard Asus P5SD2-VM and I would also like to inquire if there has been some issue or incompatibility of P5SD2-VM with Windows 7 coz I wasn't able to find the drivers for windows 7 for my motherboard at www.asus.com. And I can't seem to upload the file it gives Error Page An error occurred on the page. To go back to the page that had the error, click on the Back button. I retried many times but still no good.

Hi Fataln00b, Update the BIOS from ASUS first. If the issue persists, install the Windows Vista audio driver in the Compatibility Mode to check the result. You also can contact ASUS directly to confirm compatibility. If the issue persists, move on to the following suggestions: Check the device's status using the following steps: ======= 1. Click "Start", input "Device Manager" (without quotation marks) in the Search box, and then press "Enter". 2. Double-click "Sound, video and game controllers" to expand it. 3. Double-click the installed Sound Card to open its Properties. 4. On the General tab, please check the message in the Device Status section. Then, if the device is working properly, please follow these steps to check the sound settings: ======= 1. Click "Start", input "mmsys.cpl" (without quotation marks) in the Search box, and then press "Enter". 2. Click the "Playback" tab, choose the default sound playback device, and click "Apply". 3. Double click the output device, on "Levels" tab, check if the sound is mute and then click Apply. Also, could you please provide the System Information as mentioned in my previous post?
