Windows 7 Sleep Mode
I just built myself a powerful new computer with Windows 7 on it. Unfortunately (like with Vista) the computer runs like complete garbage when it comes out of sleep mode. My cell phone runs 50x faster. The reason I mentioned it is a powerful computer is because it seems completely absurd to me that it takes 5 minutes to open a browser, 5 minutes to get to Google, and 25 more minutes for it to even function (minimize, search, maximize...) So I spent about an hour this morning opening programs and testing it. And it all runs like trash. I hard-reset my computer (because frustration had nullified my ability to calmly use the 15 minute start menu shut down process) and the computer boots up in less than 30 seconds and runs like a champ! I just wanted to make sure you guys know about this. If it is intentional, it definitely has taught me not to leave my computer on while going to bed or going to work. Sincerely, Brad

first update your BIOS Microsoft has released the HOT FIX download and test the issue follow this Click Start Orb > type cmd in the search box > right-click cmd in results above > click Run as administrator - At the prompt type powercfg -devicequery ( wake up from any key) > press enter, it tells you what devices may cause problems with sleep mode Also, update all the device drivers including chipset driver, mouse driver and display card driver. Please run Windows Update and keep the system update to date. Besides, if there is any security (anti-virus, anti-spyware) software installed, temporary disable or turn them off to check the result. if the issue persists you can also perform Clean Boot test How to perform Clean Boot: 1. Click Start, type MSCONFIG in the Search Bar and Press Enter to start the System Configuration Utility. Please click Continue if the "User Account Control" window pops up. 2. Click the Services tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click Disable All (if it is not gray). 3. Click the Startup tab, click Disable All and click OK. 4. Restart the computer and test the issue. ==> Clean Boot is a troubleshooting step. If some programs have been disabled during the troubleshooting, we can enable them later. If there appears System Configuration Utility , check the box of "Don't show this message" and then click OK Hope it helps Nikhil

Hi Brad, You can also try the following steps: Change Power plan ============= 1. Click the Start Button, type "power options" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box and press Enter. 2. Choose High Performance (Expand the arrow at the right side) and click Change plan settings under High Performance. 3. Click Restore default settings for this plan and click Yea click Save changes. Please let the computer to sleep mode manually and check if we can resume correctly. Vivian Xing - MSFT
