hello first of all you are not in the right forum this xp not win 7 having said that over heating will cause the computer to shut down what is getting hot the processor mother board, power supply what?you should address the overheating problem first if you have reset the bios default them until you find out what the problem isopen it up start it up make sure all cooling fans are run properly ie: box fans, processor fan power supply fan if all are running open your bios and make sure the bios is set for maxium out put http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080210210721AAQXFMrif that doent work add more fansand finally if your processor is hot you may not have enough thermal compound beneath the fan http://www.ehow.com/how_2125980_use-silver-thermal-compound.htmllet us know if this works for youIf this post helps to resolve your issue,Please click the Mark as Answer check mark on this page THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK
