Windows 7 Sharing a drive - Why the mystery?
Just wanted to say, two brand new computers, windows 7, right click c:\ to share, Everyone full Access BANG Access Denied from other pc via unc path or navigating via explorer. What I want to know is, how is Microsoft going to compete with Apple, when home users hit and miss sharing a drive on their latest OS via brand new computers? I notice there are 74,000,000 pages on Google "how to share c drive in windows 7".

This is your personal opinion and people may have quite different view. I am working with MS programs for long time and I would not recommend sharing root of c to everyone. BTW there is built in administrative share c$ Regards Milos

Hi, System drive is very important for running Windows 7, its relevant to keep the system steady. If anyone can change or delete files and folders on system drive which contains the necessary files for Windows to function correctly, it would be a big threat to system and could lead to a big crash. Thus, we recommend that you do not share the root of the system drive.Alex Zhao TechNet Community Support
