Windows 7 Share Causing Issues with XP Machines
We are having an issue in 2 branches with the same issue. We are set up in a Win 2K8 domain, with each branch in their own subnet. The main PC within the branches affected are Windows 7 64 Bit Boxes with a Share set up called Documents in the root of C: Folder Perms are: -Branch access Group- Full Control -IT Administrators- Full Control Share Perms are: -Branch access Group- Full Control -IT Administrators- Full Control 90% of the machines accessing these shares are Windows XP Machines. Some of the time the XP machines can access the files/folders within the share correctly, but we have been running into an issue where when you try to browse the mapped drive (The Win 7 Share) it causes explorer on the XP machine to crash, and if you attempt to access the mapped drive from any other Machine within the branch it will crash explorer on it as well. The resolution currently has been to reboot the Win 7 machine when this occurs, but this is not a viable solution to keep using. There is also a strange side issue to this that we are having. We are having issues with excel workbooks in particular not recognizing they are already open by another user, and thus allowing multiple users to make simultaneous changes to the workbook and causing headaches as they are saving and overwriting other users changes. I have an odd feeling that these issues are related, but I cannot find anything in the event logs of either the XP or Win 7 machines that would indicate an issue.

Windows Firewall is disabled by GPO on all Domain Connections and Symantec Antivirus has been disabled/removed from a number of PCs during testing of this issue without any luck.
