Windows 7 Service Pack 1 error with Faronics Deep Freeze...
I am a high school teacher managing a computer lab at a high school. We have DeepFreeze 7.00 running on brand new computers running Windows 7 Professional. I was in my lab working today [yes, on a Sunday] and the computers found an "Important Update". I rebooted the computers in "Thawed Mode" and installed the updates. Upon restarting, it came up and said that it was installing Service Pack 1 and [obviously] was installing "Stage 1 of 2". The problem is that when the computer restarted, it went back to "Frozen" mode so after "Stage 1 of 2" finishes, it restarts and begins "Stage 1 of 2" again. And again. And again. I'm in an endless loop now because I can't access Windows to turn off DeepFreeze (put it in Thawed mode again), nor do I know how to cancel the Service Pack. I did go into "Safe Mode" and it discovered that the Service Pack did not complete, so it did a "Revert" -- however Deep Freeze set it back and it's right back to the endless loop. SOMEBODY please help. I have classes coming in tomorrow and we're about to have a week of projects in my "Projects in Computers" classes... but we don't have computers.

Griff, Can you try to rollback SP1 by following this method? To restore your computer using the System Recovery Options menu Remove all floppy disks, CDs, and DVDs from your computer, and then restart your computer using the computer's power button. Do one of the following: If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer. If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to highlight the operating system you want to repair, and then press and hold F8. On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Repair your computer, and then press Enter. If prompted, select the Windows 7 installation to be repaired, and then click Next. Select the language and keyboard input method, and then click Next. Select a user name, type your password, and then click OK. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click System Restore. In the System Restore dialog box, click Next. Choose a restore point labeled Windows 7 Service Pack 1. If you don't see a restore point labeled Windows 7 Service Pack 1, choose a restore point dated before the installation date of the service pack, and then click Next. If you don't see any restore points, click the Show more restore points check box. On the Confirm your restore point screen, click Finish, and then click Yes. Click Restart to restart your computer. Go to he directory C:\windows\minidump\ and upload the latest *.dmp files to an location where i can access them. Then i will try to see where the problem is. kind Regards DFTIM me - TWiTTer: @DFTER

AskGriff, in the stage 1 of 2, are you able to get to the Faronics Deep Freeze menu / tray icon. If so you should be able to unthaw that way...

AskGriff, Have you resolved the issue. Same thing happened to me. Talked to Faronics and they sent me a Deep Freeze driver to replace the original in order to boot, then uninstall deep freeze and reinstall. Let me know if you still need help. I can email you the file and steps. Charles

charlesdeanda I am having the same problem as AskGriff. I was trying to install 7 service pack 1 as well as other updates but they sort of didn't go well and then I restarted the computer without thawing it. Now I'm stuck in a bootloop. I would be very grateful if you could help me get out of this problem. sam
