Windows 7 Search only works when searching entire drive
I have a user with Windows 7 Pro x64. When performing a search within My Documents nothing is returned even when the file trying to look for is listed in one of the folders. When performing a search on entire C drive the file is located. I thought the issue could be due to SYSTEM not listed on permissions but it is....any other suggestions? Thanks...B

Hi, Thanks for the post! I cannot reproduce your issue, the Search works fine on my computer. Do you run as administrator? Does this My document user have some settings? Are all the file like this? Or some files encounter this situation? Since the problem is not clear, could you please upload two screenshot about the search result. Including the entire Search window. You can use SkyDrive and put them in a public folder. I have tried everything possible to resolve this issue but nothing worked. Here is what I have found so far. The user who login to the machine (with admin rights) clicks on the "Windows Explorer" icon that is pinned to the Windows 7 Task Bar which brings up the Libraries (showing Documents, Pictures, Videos, and Music). The user click on Documents folder under the Libraries and performs a search but nothing appears. If the user open My Computer and clicks on C drive and performs a search the results are displayed. Also, if the user open the "User's Files" icon on her desktop which shows her name the search results are displayed with no problem. I have tried to duplicate the issue on a recently imaged PC with Windows 7 and could not duplicate the problem. When search Documents folder using Windows Explorer icon (pinned to task bar) and click on Documents under Libraries...the results are displayed. Thanks...b
