Windows 7 SMTP settings
Hello, I am currently using an SMTP/POP3 server on Outlook which is hosted abroad. I want to set it up on my network printer to be able to send scans to e-mail addresses. DO I have just to enter the mailserver of the SMTP account onto the printer or do I need additional info to take from the SMTP account on the Win 7 pc ?

That depends on the email server and your ISP some ISP's block port 25 for all but their email servers and do not require any user info when using the outbound email server. If you are hoping to use your hosted outbound server you may need to use user account / password. Best place to ask is vendor for the printer if you do not understand the above.

Before it was working with an internal mail server and mails could be sent successfully, now mail server has been removed and only mail server abroad is available. So for SMTP I may also need to provide username and password as well since I thought they are needed only for incoming POP3 e-mails. If so I can use a current username and password of any user and it should work right, no need to open another e-mail account for the printer just for testing ?

A remote email server should require authentication or be using a whitelist, by IP in most cases, if it does then yes you will need provide the account info and password, and no need to for a new account unless you are just wanting someway to audit that. You can look in the outlook settings to see if you are using authentication The use of outgoing server authentication stops those spammers from using your server to blast spam.
