Windows 7 SATA 6.0
I have a WD1002FAEX 1TB SATA 6.0 drive installed on my system. I'm running 64bit Windows 7. Originally my BIOS did not recognize the drive as SATA 6.0 That problem has been resolved. The BIOS now sees the drive as a SATA III during boot. The Windows 7 device manager list the drive as a SCSI Disk Device. I have 2 other SATA drives installed in my computer and they do show ATA Disk Device. I deleted the WD driver thinking Windows would reboot and install the correct driver but it still shows SCSI Disk Device. Is there a SATA 6.0 driver that works with Windows 7?

The drivers are published by the manufacturer for their respective controller; if you have an AMD controller you need an AMD driver, etc. You will have to check the website of the respective motherboard manufacturer or controller chip manufacturer for a Windows 7 driver for a SATA 6 driver. If your motherboard does not have a SATA 6.0 controller chip, there is no driver that can implement the specification since that is built into the hardware controller chip. The configuration of your SATA controller in the motherboard BIOS and the respective driver is what determines how Windows 7 designates whether the drive is IDE, SATA, or SCSI. You will need to refer to you mother board's manual and/or the specifications for the controller. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
