Windows 7 Requires one reboot to startup each time. How to fix this?
ASUS K40IE - 2.1 GHz core2duo, 2GB RAM nVidia 310M - 512mb 320GB HDD Windows 7 freezes in the black screen before the login, then requires a restart to get to the login screen (ctrl+alt+del) every time i power on the pc. basically i have to do this each time i want to use the pc. it worked perfectly fine before, infact i make sure my pc is in top condition by using, cleanmem, diskeeper, tuneup utilities 2011, avast internet security. But after i bought this SATA / IDE to USB converter to use my desktop HDD (500GB) in my laptop, it started responding a little slower, but eventually worked out and used it non-stop for less than 24 hrs. Finally when i restarted the pc, that freezing in the black screen started. and now it happens even if the 500gb HDD is disconnected. it also could be the reason why my newly installed (after 500gb HDD connection) Resident Evil 5 keeps hanging after few minutes of game play, which did not happen in my previous install of Windows 7. my options are: 1) a fix / solution form anyone from here would be greatly appreciated. (would not have to go through hell installing all the softwares again) or 2) find a good software that can back up all my installed applications, documents, etc then restore them to the newly installed windows 7. (saw one months ago in CNET video reviews but cannot find it anymore. that one seemed to be a good) so please guys / girls, help me out. thanks alot...

Go into your bios settings and load setup defaults, save and exit. Windows should start normally.

Hi, I suspect the issue is related to your graphic card driver. Please download Audio and VGA drivers from manufacture's site. Also update the BIOS. http://in.asus.com/Notebooks/Versatile_Performance/K40IE/#download Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information. Regarding the game, it is recommended installing and running it in compatibility mode. Right click the install file -> properties -> compatibility tab -> Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows Vista (SP2), check the Privilege Level as well. You could uninstall it temporary for testing. http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-us/games/pages/residentevil5.aspx If the issue persists, please boot into Safe Mode to check if the issue occurs. Also check if any related log is available in Event Log. If you want to reinstall Windows, you could use Windows Easy Transfer to back up user profile. However, you may need to reinstall your applications due to fresh registry and system partition.
