Windows 7 Remove primary DNS suffix
I work for an IT company that travels to many clients. We have our own domain in our office and each client runs their own domain. I use software that I need to remove my primary DNS suffix from my work laptop and can not figure out how to do this in Windows 7. In XP I would just go to the computer name / domain tab where you can change the PCs name or join it to a domain. Once there I would click the "More" button and on the next window just delete the Primary DNS suffix and uncheck all the boxes. I can the run all the apps I need to with out problem. In Windows 7 when I try to do the same thing I get this error."Changing the primary domain DNS name of this computer to "" failed. The name will remain "Domain.MyOffice.com"The error was:The specified server cannot preform the requested operation."Like I mentioned in XP I could do this without error and then I could do the scans I wanted on any of our clients domains. With Windows 7 I can not change my Primary DNS so when I run a scan every machine's IP address comes back as my WAN connection of "Domain.MyOffice.com" instead of the acutal address of the PC.Any help on knocking out my Primary DNS suffix would be helpful. Thank you.

Not sure if this is what you are asking.Under the Adanved TCP / IP settings, DNS you have a selection to append primary suffixes for DNS.
