Windows 7 Remote Assistance Wont Connect to Windows 7 boxes
I am running a Windows Server 2003 SP2 domain with 2 domain controllers and mostly XP workstations. I have been installing a few Windows 7 machines and I cannot remote assistance to them from any machine - XP, Vista or other Windows 7. I know RA from XP to 7 is not supported but 7 to 7 is not working. I get the generic "your offer to help could not be sent". The Windows 7 machines can offer RA to any windows XP machine with no problems. Windows Firewall is disabled and I have tried: Adding helpers in GP as "domain\username" instead of just "username" installing this patch: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2003088#top on both DCs I would prefer to stick with windows built in remote assistance rather then go to a 3rd if possible. Upgrading to Windows Server 2008 is not a possibility right now.

Ase777 I had the user check those, and they were disabled, but your thought process was absolutely correct. The actual issue was that the user had the same names locally and domain based. Win was getting confused when trying to access Remote Support for the Local user. I don't understand it either but that is what the tech in that area explained.

I am having this same issue, any help would be greatly appreciated. Remote assistance permissions/settings are governed by GP, our domain controller is 2008 R2. Remote Assistance on and between WindowsXP machines work fine; Windows 7 to XP computers works fine; but Windows 7 to Windows 7 computers return the error "Your Offer to help coould not be sent." The Remote Assistance GPO looks ok to me: the proper AD groups are added in the "Helpers" list, RA is enabled with the appropriate options (Solicited and Offer configured), and the user accounts and computers that should be affected are working normally (in an XP environment). A separate GPO, which looks like it is being successfully applied, turns off Windows Firewall on all machines; for Windows 7, Domain and Private firewalls are off. I can't figure out why, with firewalls disabled, the RA settings defined in GP work for XP machines but not Windows 7.
