Windows 7 Release Candidate crashing/blue screen on start up.
I just installed the Windows 7 Release Candidate today. Everything was working fine until the computer started with Windows 7 as the main operating system. I can login fine, but once I reach the desktop, the computer crashes to a blue screen and reebots itself. I have tried it about 5 times, and it has crashed every time. I then tried starting the computer in safe mode, and that worked. I used the "Event Viewer" to locate the error. This is what it says: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. Log Name: System Source: Kernel-Power Level: Critical User: SYSTEM Any help would be appreciated. Edit: I've been searching around for an answer to this problem, and so far only one thing has been helpful. I opened msconfig, chose Selective Startup on the General tab, then unticked the Load Startup Items box, clicked on the Services tab, checked the Hide All Microsoft Services box, then clicked Disable All. I then restarted the computer, running it normally, and not in safe mode. It started up and is working now. Therefore I am assuming that a certain program has been causing the problem. As of now, I am not sure which program however.

Just figured out how to copy the complete error. Not sure if it will help. I'm glad you solved the problem. In order to figure out what program caused it, you can re-enable the startup programs one by one. - Nick
