Windows 7 RC x64 - problems report
Hi. I would like to report 3 problems iv found using the Windows 7 RC x64 english version.First, the windows 7 rc has an older version of IE8 than the final version for Vista. I can tell that becouse the Win7 version doesnt recognize mutli-level domain addresses - for example, in Estonia (where I live) we have lots of domain names ending with .pri.ee (pri means private). Now, in Windows Vista the IE8 final recognized that an address www.domain1.pri.ee is different than www.domain2.pri.ee and highlighted the domainx.pri.ee in the address bar - in Windows 7, however, the IE8 doesnt understand this and highlights only the pri.ee part (thinking that pri is the domain name). That becomes problem when you have to use the compatibility mode button for some of these web addresses - if IE8 thinks the pri.ee ending addresses are all the same web site then you cant use the compatibility mode for one of them without interrupting anothers.Second, not worth mentioning that the visualizations that come with Windows Media Player 12 are still the same old and crappy, the full-screen settings tab for them is still broken (as it is also in wmp11). There is an option to set the full screen resolution for the battery visualizations but it doesnt change anything - in full screen, the resolution still remains the same poor as in the window (512x384 max). Wouldnt it be time to fix this?Third, the final bug that coused me to drop the Windows 7 RC and return back to Vista, was that i could not upload anything to my ftp server using windows explorer. I was able to connect, but if i tried to upload anything i got a double error (two similar errors popping up at the same time) with a text saying something like "unable to handle the document" or something - unfortunally i did not save to error but it surely had the word "handle" somewhere.Forth, iv also heard there is a problem connecting to wifi network after resuming from standby. Also, i was quite unpleased with the Windows 7 user interface changes - the new taskbar looks ok in glass mode, but in basic mode its the ugliest thing iv ever seen on my screen. Think about the netbook users who are forced to see this - i suggest using a Vista-style black or darkgrey color for the taskbar. Also, the increased size of the titlebar and its minimize-maxmimize-close buttons looks ugly for me - the size they have in vista is perfect, why brake this?Thank you for your attention.
