Windows 7 RC will not shutdown
RC 32bit just stays at the Shutting Down screen. It stays there for ever. This happened after installing my M-Audio sound card driver and my ATI video card driver. Any suggestions please? The M-Audio driver was installed with compatibility of Vista SP1 and Run As Admin. The ATI driver was a Windows 7 driver from the ATI.AMD website.

What happens if you press the computer reset button. If that doesn't work, press the power button and hold for 6 seconds. Reboot. Try to shut down and report back if problem remains. Hope that helps.Kris

Hello again KrisM77. This computer does not have a case. I have no reset abilities. It sets out in the open with 4 hard drives 2 video cards and a semi-pro sound card with a bunch of ground straps. It is started by jumping 2 terminals on the motherboard. No one else in the house can start it. There are 4 other computers in the house so mine is left alone. Back to question: It restarted fine while installing the OS, after installing raid controller, Firefox and network changes. Then I installed the above drivers and it just hung on Shutting Down. Should I try to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them again? They are working fine! I will get my motherboard instruction diagram and find the reset terminals and try it.

have you rebooted? do that first - probably just hung on ownership of something that a re-boot would clear. if no reset or power switch, just hit the PSU off switch. But you really should connect at least a power switch - it IS gentler to the system.Kris

Thank you. The reset and power buttons above did not work for this. The added site hit did. Problem is now taken care of. Thank you Again. JB
