Windows 7 RC connects to wrong router
My situation:My computer is directly connected to a Zyxel 2602-H61 router. Connection to internet is made by thisrouter.ALinksys wireless gateway is connected to the Zyxel router. Made a clean install of Windows 7 RC. No additional software installed. Problem: When I install windows 7 with only the Zyxel router connected, internet works fine. I see my PC connected to the correct (Zyxel) gateway anda fine working connection to the internet. After I have connected my Linksys wireless gateway to my router Windows 7 connects after a reboot to the Linksys gateway which has no internet connection. Question:Windows XP and Windows Vista did not have any problem with this configuration / combination of router and wireless gateway. Is there a solution for my problem? Maybe by making some changes in the registry? Is it possible to "freeze" the automatic network configuration ability of Windows 7 so it will prevent Windows to change the registry when I have made Windows connected to the correct router?Hope some can help me because I ran out of options. Thanks from the Netherlands!

When you say the Win7 PC connects to the Linksys wireless gateway do you mean via the PCs wireless connection? If so have you simply disabled wireless on the PC while your connected to the wired ZyXEL router? I presume your talking about a laptop is that correct?MS-MVP Windows Desktop Experience, "When all else fails, read the instructions"

How do you have the Linksys wireless gateway connected to the ZyXEL router? Is it ZyXEL LAN port to a Linksys LAN port? Do you have the DHCP server function on the Linksys disabled?MS-MVP Windows Desktop Experience, "When all else fails, read the instructions"

Dear Al Jarvi,Excuse me for my delayed reply. I was not able to reply earlier because of a businesstrip. The Linksyswireless gateway is connected to the ZyXEL router by, as you described LAN to LAN and configured as a gateway. DHCP server was enabled. I have switched it to disabled and now have to checkif the problem is gone. Will be back asap to let you know!UPDATE: Al Jarvi, you've solved my problem. Two times DHCP-serving was to much for Windows 7. Strange that neither XP as Vista had problems with this. That's why I didn't thought that my router was the problem. Thank you very much for your kind help!
